About Beds for Kids

One House at a Time (OHAAT) is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization that is working to end child bedlessness through a program called Beds for Kids. Since 1998 the Beds for Kids program has provided beds and bedding for 15,000+ children and youth in Greater Philadelphia. Recipients are referred to the program by organizations that serve low-income families (e.g. human service agencies, hospitals, schools, etc.). These Referral Partners are essential to the program’s success because they provide targeted outreach through interviews and home visits.

Programs

OHAAT currently offers two Beds for Kids programs, the Basic Program and the Reimbursement Program.

Basic Program

Referral Partners participating in the Basic Program can submit a limited number of referrals at no cost. Referrals are contingent on OHAAT’s current funding (the more funding we have, the more beds we give away) and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Reimbursement Program

Referral Partners participating in the Reimbursement Program can submit an unlimited number of referrals at any time as long as they reimburse us for our costs. OHAAT’s current cost is $210 for a single twin-size bed and $448 for a twin-size bunk bed.
